Advice to Future Students

A few words I want to share:

Attending the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity was hands down one of the coolest and most eye-opening experiences I’ve ever had. As a rising senior, the timing couldn’t have been more impactful. This is the year before I enter the real world, and Cannes helped me see what’s possible in it.

At the festival, you're surrounded by inspiring, high-level professionals who are not only incredibly knowledgeable but genuinely passionate about sharing their wisdom. One of the biggest takeaways from my experience was learning that confidence is everything. Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself, start conversations, or ask questions. Whether it’s the person seated next to you during a talk, standing in front of you in line for the bathroom, or waiting with you to grab food... SPARK CONVO! Be open to learning from everyone around you because you never know where it could go.

Also, explore every type of event, whether it’s a workshop in a small room or a talk in the lumiére theatre. Don’t be afraid to break off from your group either. Something that really worked for our group was pairing up with just one other person. I think that being in a group of 3–4 can make it harder to network and meet new people. Also, don’t be afraid to trail off and do your own thing. Independence can lead to lots of great things!

Every moment at Cannes has value. Whether it’s a random conversation or a panel you almost skipped, it all adds up and teaches you something new.

What to Pack:

Be prepared to SWEAT. Cannes is hot, and you’ll be walking a lot (comfort and practicality are key).

  • Clothing:

    • Stick to light-colored, breathable fabrics.

  • Accessories:

    • A sun hat that covers your whole face.

    • A portable fan (they do give some out, but having your own is clutch).

    • Sunglasses (it's sunny non-stop).

  • Shoes:

    • Cute breathable sneakers.

    • Comfortable walking sandals.

    • One pair of small heels for dinners/events (we were turned away from one place for not being dressed appropriately!)

  • Bag: Bring a shoulder or hand-bag big enough to carry your essentials (fan, notebook, lip-stick, etc.).

Food Recs:

  • Tuk Tuk Thai – So good, quick, and authentic.

  • Pitadine – I UberEats’d this and was shocked by how amazing it was.

  • La Piazza – Great vibes and good for big groups!

  • Medusa – Fun energy and a cool vibe.
